Metallurgical Automatic Laboratory Forum

In response to the national call for "digital and intelligent-driven transformation" in the metallurgical industry, an increasing number of steel enterprises are building digital intelligent factories. The intelligent laboratory of Hebei Tianzhu Group Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. stands as a model in this regard. To promote exchanges and cooperation among industry enterprises, Shimadzu and Tianzhu Iron and Steel jointly hosted the "Metallurgical Intelligent Laboratory" Summit Forum and Demonstration on May 26, 2023, in the beautiful coastal city of Qinhuangdao. Many large domestic steel enterprises such as Shougang and Ansteel were also invited to participate in this conference. Mr. Zhao Xingdong, Deputy General Manager of Tianzhu Iron and Steel, and Mr. Hu Jiaxiang, Minister of the Marketing Department of the Analytical and Measuring Instruments Division of Shimadzu, delivered opening speeches at the conference.

During the morning session, Mr. Miao Guoyu introduced that the demonstration relied on Tianzhu Iron and Steel's implemented automation projects. The goal was to break the traditional perception of steel enterprises and allow attendees to "personally experience" the unique charm of modern steel production by practicing the concept of a "digital steel enterprise."

Director Ju Weifeng explained the background of Tianzhu Iron and Steel's intelligent automation laboratory project. Taking the opportunity of the laboratory relocation, the company systematically planned, designed, and built the current fully automated intelligent laboratory. After introducing this system, Tianzhu Iron and Steel achieved automation in iron and steel sample testing and intelligent data processing, effectively improving product quality, reducing labor costs and ton-steel costs, and significantly enhancing production efficiency.

Ms. Geng Xiaohong, Professor-level Senior Engineer at Beijing Zhongye Jingcheng Engineering Technology Co., Ltd.

Ms. Geng Xiaohong delivered a keynote report titled *Experience Sharing on New Steel Laboratories*, providing new ideas for industry peers on the construction or transformation of new automated laboratories in the metallurgical industry.

Director Dong Lingming focused on the chemical automation analysis system for raw materials in his report *Domestic Fully Automatic Sample Preparation and Fluorescence Detection System for Ore Category*, highlighting cutting-edge technologies such as the automatic FeO content measurement system and the fully automatic glass melting system.

Mr. Wang Jianwei presented *Introduction to Steel Intelligent Laboratory System*, introducing Sensopech's integration capabilities in intelligent laboratory systems, unique technologies, and seamless cooperation advantages with Shimadzu.

Ms. Wang Yue, Marketing Department, Analytical and Measuring Instruments Division, Shimadzu (China) Co., Ltd.

Ms. Wang Yue introduced Shimadzu's automated products such as direct reading and fluorescence analyzers, emphasizing the unique advantages of Shimadzu's automated products and the upcoming release of the testing machine automation system products.

The conference organized all attendees to visit the Quick Analysis Center and Technology Center at Tianzhu Iron and Steel's Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park. At the Quick Analysis Center, participants witnessed a complete intelligent processing system for the entire process of steel sample delivery, sampling, preparation, and analysis, including three sets of Shimadzu SAP-8000 direct reading automation systems. Director Ju Weifeng led the guests to visit the Technology Center and explained the laboratory's technical configuration and overall layout. During the post-conference exchanges, attendees experienced the efficient and stable operation of Tianzhu's intelligent laboratory, actively raised various questions, and conducted in-depth discussions with Shimadzu experts, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the uniqueness of Shimadzu's automated products.
